New Apartment

Now I'm searching for a new place to live. My TXU contract and my lease are done at the end of this month. I found some really nice ones closer to Downtown Dallas. I was going to start looking closer to where my new job is, but it's mostly ghetto and section 8. And if I'm going to pick where I live it's going to be nice. I've limited myself to 700$ a month for rent. Wish me luck.

New Job?

I finally got tired of doing contracts and being freelance, and running my own business. So I started a job search last week. My job searches are never long. One week and I'm hired. On Tuesday I had an interview with a small IT Managed Services Provider in Arlington, just west of Cowboys Stadium. They were living the life. Everyone had 2011 or 2012 vehicles, even the Junior Techs had new cars, one had a 2012 Camaro SS. The guy told me he could hire me for $60,000 but he needs to go through several more candidates.

So on Friday, I had an interview at 1pm in the West End with a national MSP that provides for Independent School Districts and Police Stations. They Told me they could cap at $50,000 and the work would be corporate, and amazing. They also informed me it would take a couple of weeks to process everything. That same day at 3pm I had an interview at a small IT MSP in NorthWest Dallas on the Strip (Strip Clubs, Ghetto Clubs). I don't think it could be any further from Mesquite and still be in Dallas County. They wanted to hire me. They didn't even ask me any technical questions, they said I had the personality and desire to learn they wanted. They wanted to start me. Immediately, and for only 30,000$. I didn't like saying it, but I told them my minimum was $45,000. After a bit of negotiating they agreed to $45,000 - but - I had to start. Monday.

I really didn't know what to do. But these guys weren't in new Camaro's. They weren't doing corporate IT work in Downtown Dallas. They were doing IT for small business that needed IT. They were doing it for the love of it. They want to train me on systems I'm completely clueless about. They went out of their budget to make sure they got me. I said yes. I don't know whether or not to regret it. I just know that I start my new job on the 18th. Wish me luck. $45,000 and paid certifications. Let's go.
